Agreed. Facebook is a beautiful thing for business. We've had our page for quite awhile now, and whilst we probably don't update it as often as we should, it's still gold.

One, for brand recognition. Everytime we do post something, it pops up on all of our fans' home page.

Also, for word-of-mouth marketing. Everytime someone becomes a fan of our page, facebook tells all of their friends. Our business is a very personal one and I know all of our clients by name and the type of investments they hold; and yet, I have no idea who over half of our facebook fans are.

    Love it!

A really great resource for Facebook marketing (and all social media) is http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/

I have learnt so much from it - I am trying to pass this knowledge onto the marketing girls at the office!

My company's FB page is just getting fired up with a small following (mainly staff) but hopefully it will gradually grow as people share things that are posted.

The 'share' function when you post a link, photo or video is useful for helping members spread the word to their friends (kinda like a re-tweet).

I reckon that to make it work you need to figure out a strategy for your FB page - what is the purpose of it? Is there going to be exclusive content or information that is only available for fans? Is it going to be for more interaction with clients / customers?

Try and make it special or different.

A lot of people have has success by inviting all their friends and then requesting those friends invite theirs to join. Really good for business to business marketing also.

Very exciting and a very cost effective way to market your business!

We're not on Facebook and I can't think of anything I'd put on there anyway. Our site is completely static.

Now, when we move away from trying to build up passive income and go back to Real Work, I can see Facebook being fantastic but not now.

I haven't created a Facebook page for my business, but is planning on doing so. I've tried using a Twitter business account and had some decent traffic off the site. Now I'm planning to use Facebook for the same purpose.

We are now using a Facebook 'Fan' for Silk Interiors. I'm thinking about ways of optimising it - like offering special deals for fans, having a few competitions with small prizes (like free tickets to the HIA Homeshow in Melbourne), that kind of thing.

I don't want it to be all about us - I want people to contribute. So that will be my goal.

We have a Facebook fanpage for Little Bird Decor and I am surprised at the response.

There is a wordpress blog on our site and I have linked it to FB and Twitter so fans get summarised blog posts that require them to click through to the site.

Used to be a skeptic of social media, now im a bit more comfortable with it and think its a good medium for business.

I've setup a Facebook page for Equita, but it's only 'fans' at this stage are a dozen of my friends! I'm looking to start adding more links to relevant news items and articles from now onwards.

I encourage everyone to become a fan!!!
