    Nice one, mate.

    My first thought was to wonder why an online business would define a geographic market. Even my 'real-world' business happily looks after people from all corners of the country.

    Looking at your website though, it seems you actually go to the client and consult there. Interesting. I would imagine this to be a significant point of difference - is there a way to promote this aspect particularly strongly?

    The online market is extremely saturated. To compete online you have to undersell yourself which is not what I am wanting to do.

    Marketing myself locally is my goal. You would be surprised about the amount of potential clients there are within 20 minutes of an outer-suburb (200 odd). It's just a matter of having to gain that exposure locally (i.e. trade expos, rotary clubs, festivals and the like).

    Welcome on board!

    I am also in the 'web' industry, and you are hitting the nail on the head. It is much nicer to go see a client, get their requirements and be able to deal with them on a 1-1 basis in person rather than over e-mail.

    9 times out of 10, this leads to a referral because the client '.. knows a guy in the area..' and small businesses prefer to deal with real people.

    It might even be worth targeting specific market sectors as well, we have tried this with one of our products and its working out great.

    Good luck, your portfolio looks nice.

    Thanks Brendan. I have been targeting certain businesses, in particular trades/service businesses that are typically sole traders that are wanting exposure but cannot do it themselves (plumbers, electricians, lawn mowers, builders, cabinet makers and the like). My old high school has provided great connections.

    I also took advantage of Moo Minicards ability to print a unique design for each card. This allowed me to take a more 'personal' approach to gaining business and making that crucial first impression;
