Ok, so a little while ago, I dipped my toes in the water and started blogging. Focus is around accounting and wealth creation, and ties in directly to my core business.

I've read a lot of Yaro Starak's stuff, which is great. Love it.

I am curious, though, if the brilliant masses on this forum have any of their own tips here to increase involvement? We may well be implementing many of them already, but I'm curious to see what you all think is important here.

Hey James,

You have some great articles there, and blogs are probably one of the most SEO friendly types of websites around at the moment.. so you should use it to your advantage if you are trying to attract traffic to your site to generate more business.

Some of the info I am going to give you below lots of people pay THOUSANDS of dollars for.. its powerful stuff.. so use it wisely and keep it close to to your chest..

What you need to do is identify some keywords as to which your blog relates and what sort of traffic you want to attract, some terms that come to mind are;

When you have a few keywords that you want to be found for in the search engines, you need to tailor your articles to include these keywords strategically, in both the header and the body text.

For instance, if your keywords were generate wealth, & property investment - you could write an blog post like this;

Generate Wealth using proven Property Investment Techniques

So you are all reading this blog because you want to generate wealth; and we all know that one of the most effective ways to do this is through Property, but do you really know some of the best property investment techniques to use when trying to establish yourself...

What I have done there are some basic seo tweaks that will hopefully attract those keywords when your blog is indexed.. you will notice I have unerlined and made bold those keywords, what that does is tells the search engine those words are important - and it is believed they are treated a little differently.

Make sure though when using this technique, you don't go overboard, the search engines are very smart and dont like deliberate keyword abuse.. just use your keywords a few times in an article.

So, once that's done, how do you get the search engines to find you? Have you tried submitting your blog posts to digg? Stumble Upon? Properller? Twitter?

That should get you started.. it will set your articles up to be indexed with quality keywords, and tell the world that your articles are cool.. and tell people where to find them.

Also.. and this is one of the biggest secrets of the internet world that not many people realise.. don't re-post content.. even if you wrote it.

Make sure you only post it in one place.. if you write a great article leave it in its original spot.. if it gets duplicated all over the internet it degrades the quality and is likely to not get found.

I noticed you have done that with a few blog posts, so stop doing it..it doesn't help SEO at all.. it hurts it - BAD!

So hopefully that helps.. its pretty hard core stuff if done properly and can really make your blog one of the best..

Hey, thanks Brendan. That's some serious gold there and will certainly take that all on board. And, I'll stop posting my articles on your forum :-)

Never been sure about the bold and underlined stuff. Looks very... say, American. Tacky, perhaps. Will give some thought to that one but it's a good point to make sure I'm actually using the words that people would search for.

You can still post articles on here :P .. just dont post duplicate articles, its common to post a simialr article on another site with links back to your original article and the search engines wont get angry.. especially if you article is on a related site.

in regards to the keyword highlighting.. you dont have to do it, but some say that it helps.. not yet to be proven.

Just good keywords and good back links is a good start!

All good mate. I'm not about to disappear and hopefully will have a few things worth posting from time to time about business development and wealth creation.

Funny thing is, I've always felt a little uncomfortable posting on forums with direct links to my own websites. Spruiking, I guess, and I think this comes from my past life as a real estate agent where I had to be very careful not to be seen as abusing the goodwill of property investment forums. Even now, with my main business in the property, investment and accounting field, I'm keenly aware that a board's perception can quickly turn against me if I'm not careful. It even took me awhile to be comfortable that linking via my signature was ok!

But, I'm getting better. And hey, it really wasn't hard to drop a lot of those buzz words in this post, either, without ruining the flow or sounding dodgy. Nice tip there mate, keep 'em coming!
