Thread: What % do you invest

Default What % do you invest

Just out of interest, what percentage of your income do you invest into savings/shares? I usually try about 10%, but may be looking to try and move that up a little next year to 15%.

I don't look at it as a fixed percentage personally, I just look at what available cash I have at the time of seeing a share I think will peform and invest based on the cost of the share, what returns I am predicting I am going to get and what sort of a strategy I plan on using for that particular share.

I guess across the board if I was to average it out, I would say 5-10% of my total income goes to shares.

Not sure about % of income as mine tends to jump around a bit, but aim for 80% of money after living expenses.

20% of my after tawx income goes into what i call assets (savings/shares/businesses), basically anything that will generate a compounding return for me.

Of that 20% about half goes into shares, as that is the most appropriate for me at this stage, however i am slowly starting to put more into my businesses

35% of my after tax income goes into savings (I have very cheap rent, and low fixed expenses). At the moment I am not investing in shares because I need the money for a deposit on a property I'm purchasing. However last year I invested around 7.5% of my income into shares.
