How do we apply a 1300 no?

In terms of 1300 numbers I have never applied for one, but if you do a quick search in google you will see there are lots and lots of companies offering them.

There is a flat fee of $9.95 per month, 10 minutes free for incoming, then 7c per minute there after. Our bill is never over $20 per month for the 1300. Never had any problems with it from the day we started using them.

Do you want just any 1300 number or do you want a personalised one like 1300YOURNAME? I bought a personalised one (1800 rather than 1300, but it's the same process) a few months back through the ACMA auction. Basically you just search for your preferred number to see if it's available, if it is, you nominate it for auction and place your bid (minimum $500) then at the next scheduled auction you number will become available. If no one outbids you, the number is yours.

I use Alltel -and at this early stage I am very impressed.
No hassle, easy and cost effective.
I had a random 1300 number within 48hrs - up and running and I even opted for a Live Answering service so that I have a professional "virtual receptionist" answering my phone if I don't pick up.

The only 'issue' you may face is whether you want a phone number that spells your business name - these are harder to come by.

Good to know. We used to have a 1300 number through Telstra (from 2005-2008). It cost us $30 per month plus call costs. I didn't even think about it for our new business because it seemed like an unnecessary evil (and we were also renting back then and moved home three times, so it was good to be able to keep the same number) but $9.95 per month sounds very reasonable.

Yeah guys Telcoworx is the mob to go with. We opted not to use a 'word' as such for our 1300 number, but if you ask them to get you a catchy one I found they are happy to have a few go's at finding you a good one. We ended up with 1300 589 889, which we are quite happy with.
