Upsizing factory
Hey all
We are upsizing to a 320sqm factory at the end of the month due to a lack of space to do the types of signage we now manufacture - large building and vehicle signs.
We are also moving into the mounting and laminating market, which I did not know is a specialised service of its own.
My question is, how soon is too soon to upsize and how do you handle a steady growth without bursting at the seams. I want to manage the growth and have finally found a decent apprentice that wants to be in this trade.
Any feedback appreciated.

Justin, can your current workload and flow of work keep your business sustained in the larger factory?
Will the larger factory give you a greater capability? Will it bring you in more work?
What would be the outcome if you didn't upsize?
Ask yourself these questions, and hopefully you will get a clearer picture!

Thanks Slade
I think the workload can handle it, and hopefully we can push for more vehicle signage with floor space being able to hold 3 vehicles at any given time. In our current unit I have tools and stock backed up to the roller door so there is no space to fit a vehicle in.
I am also going to put an open face booth in as the amount we outsource for spray painting I found out was quite high.

Moving out of home into a rented premises is a big step, I hope it works out for you if you decide to move
