I come here to talk with like minded people, not read a 5 steps to starting a business that is copy pasted to 100's of forums,
For f*cks sake my 13 month old son knows more about business than these filippino link builders.

Does anyone even look at the "report messages" that we send?


My tip = Drop the focus on design of your site and make it a nice place to come with quality.
Its cheaper and more successful

Hi Phillip, we do hear you! The team's been on holiday and the spam gremlins have crept into the works! I've been banning a bunch of them with my giant spam hammer and will be at it again today. hey, it annoys me too. but it seems to be a curse of lots of forum sites. i am in another forum site for car detailing and not a day goes past when someone isn't trying to spam. it sucks.

A small point to raise. There's no doubt that a handful of posters here are gratuitously putting up random rubbish just to build their backlinks and by and large, the mods here have dealt with them. It isn't always easy, however, to decipher the intentions of new posters right away.

Some may not be as articulate as others and it might look as if they're spamming when they're not. Others might wish to show off their services straight away but it stands to reason they'll also need time to build up their posts counts to balance out their levels of contribution to a growing online community.

It's likely to take 20 or more posts before you can really work out the intentions of a poster so be patient, let the mods do their job and, if a poster continues to spam over a longer period of time, message a mod directly and I'm sure they'll take offending work down.

The one thing we don't want to do is drive people away. I can't post as often as I'd like to because of other commitments but this place is getting bigger by the day. Give it time. We'll get there in the end.

I hate spam too but also accept that quality always wins out in life.

What I don't get is why good businesses pay cheap shysters to spam sites 'cause that destroys their brand. And once something is posted online, it is really there forever.

It just doesn't make sense.

I think the mods do a great job on this forum, it is heaps better than some I have been on.
Spammers only post on decent web properties anyway so we are in a good place at least.

I know I shouldn't, but you have to chuckle sometimes.

Everybody knows my view on spammers and the mods are being way too kind. I'm fully supportive of virtual executions (suffocation by designer bag is a favourite method) and I know where I'd start as far as the AT forum is concerned.

It's a slow day, and I've just sussed out the that 'Fashion Elite Bags' is actually a fine anagram of the type of exporting business that old spammyguts runs - "Sea Line Bag of S***!"

I'm with Phillip on this one. Shoot to kill!

I don't even let them sign up on my forum, let alone post. Unfortunately I have about 10 signing up each day and tend to let them bank up for a while so if any real people sign up they're going to have to wait.

I really, really hate spammers, but there's only so much you can do about them.
