Lurkers and Crap Content

I'm sick of them both. I need a rant.

Please do not lurk on the forum. It is absolutely bloody pointless for any of us to say anything if nobody gives us any feedback or challenges us. 25 viewers earlier. 1 person giving something back. It's like going round to your neighbour for dinner every night without offering an invitation back. Please join in.

Copy and paste posters. Worse than lurkers. One day of rabid posting to so they can add a signature. They fill the place with crap and are never seen again. This is like taking your dog to your neighbour when you go to have dinner and allowing him to dump on the carpet. They get their backlinks and swan off to the next forum leaving behind a trail of festering waste. Shoot them. They have no place here.

Rant over. For now.

nice rant. very nice one. i can say only two things. for lurkers, u need to cut them some slack. it can be a bit scary getting the nerve to post on a site where a lot of people know a lot of stuff about business. i know it took me about 3 months to get the courage. so be nice to the lurkers. they are just getting prepared to post. by the way, if u are a lurker it only takes a post or 2 and you get into the swing of things.

for the people just writing crap to get backlinks i agree with oneforthemoney- shoot them.

Tongue firmly in my cheek over the lurkers, Jake. I lurked here for ages if the truth be known. I'd love to see the army of reader turning into an army of posters though. i've already made a couple of great connections on this site and there's got to be many more out there. Have a go. Post something. We don't bite!

Backlinkers are still gonna get it though!

It is Saturday night and my date stood me up. I am drinking wine and have a spray can of spam killer to destroy those pesky spammers.

Like graffiti, our approach is to clean it out of the forum as soon as it is seen. And then ban the user.

Everyone can help. If you see it, report it (thanks to the many who already do).

Spamming is a pet hate of mine as well. I like to view the Internet as a place of worthwhile contributions from the informed. These days, it's a marketing free-for-all and spammers, as mentioned earlier, need the sharp end of a 12-bore aimed at their kneecaps.

I like lurkers though. Lurkers are potential posters and I'd love to see more of our readers getting involved.

Must admit it's been great seeing some different faces over the past few days, especially those wiith significant post counts (like yourself) who have already made a contribution are here. Long may it continue!

Actually nice to see a bit of activity here at all, it seemed to have just died off there with not much other than SEO spam posts, and heaps of people with non-Australian sites in their sigs.
