Thread: Will This Idea Work?

    Default Will This Idea Work?

Been reading up on business ideas for newbies and come across this one. Does it sound like a good idea or is it just more hype?

Open a Yahoo Answers Account > Begin answering questions to reach 250 points and go to Level 2 > Once Level 2 is reached, you are allowed to post links
Choose preferred niche category and answer questions with links to affiliate products that can solve problems for question answers. This can be done up to 40 times a day on Level 2 > Estimated earnings $70+ a day

Sounds good in theory and I know Yahoo Answers does well in search engines. I could do this without breaking into my budget and build up my money for bigger things at a later stage. I know it's going to be costing nothing but time but will I be wasting my time or can I make some money from this idea?

I've seen this idea or something very similar before and although it might make you a few dollars here and there, you would have to orchestrate your efforts to the extent where you'll have to build websites anyway which I know you currently have in mind. If you can build niche websites that relate to categories in Yahoo Answers, you can redirect people to articles that answer their questions and this puts them directly in front of your Adsense, Clickbank, Amazon and other campaigns on the website itself.

Yahoo Answers obviously ranks better for Yahoo searches so you'll need to remember that traffic from related searches will probably be smaller and you'll have to answer questions that are going to have a high volume of secondary searches. Keyword research will help in this area and help you to find targetted questions that will be asked by more people. I'd use this in addition to any other traffic-driving methods you might be considering. This will definitely produce small results but it has to be a part of a much bigger picture.

Obviously, you can redirect people back to affiliate pages but this might violate the terms and conditions of Yahoo Answers and get your account suspended or banned so keep that in mind.

This is a feasible idea and I know of a few people who currently make money this way.

As explained above, it is often better to create niche sites and redirect to your affiliate offers rather than putting affiliate links directly in the Yahoo answers.

    ^Agreed..

Internet marketing is all about building residual income.

If you can outsource the entire task (see oDesk.com or Elance.com) and still collect a profit of $20 per day, that's great!

Outsource the task and collect the profits while you build more money-making machines online.

I've put this idea into action and have already reached Level 2 and can now start posting links. I'm putting in two hours per day on this at the moment and have just created some links that send others back to the main sites that I've become affiliated to. This is obviously faster and cheaper as I don't have any websites yet. I know I could be losing Adsense earnings for now but I'm hoping to use this money (if I earn any) to outsource for the creation of sites. I've had a go at building Wordpress sites already and it's easy enough but very slow for me. I'm going to pay for my content and for the sites as well. I have found a writer I can afford but how much should I expect to pay for outsourcing a Wordpress site and how do I go about it?

This method has been done before and is completely saturated. If you started back in '05 when they just launched you probably would have made what you estimated but these days every kid and their dog is doing it. Heck, these even paid automated software out there which does this for you. I think the only thing Yahoo! Answers is good for now is a bit of link juice. If you still wanted to do it, I'd recommend investing in the automated software so you don't waste 2 hours every day.

In terms of outsourcing your WordPress sites, just head on over to Freelancer.com.

I love saturation because it invariably means the big boys are walking away from individual markets. Often, they leave hungry prospects in buying mood behind and as long as you can deliver your 'service' better than any of the stragglers, you can impose yourself as a genuine authority within any niche. Sometimes, you don't have to be chasing the new pot of gold if there's still money left in one that you already know about.
