Blogging. This has been around years and is still a great way to make money online. You can use Google's own Blogger which is free or wordpress, which is best used with a domain and hosting. Blogger is your typical kind of blog that runs in chronological order by post, wordpress when hosted is a lot more versatile and can look more like a website. If your new to all this, I'd use blogger at first. It's got a lot better and there are many ebook out there as to how you can make money with Blogger. Blogger lets you install asense ads easily or you can use affiliate links to your blogs posts to earn money
Bytrade: Believe it or not you can make a lot of money on bytrade. It's come a long way since first being built so that the site's owner's could sell their stuff lying around their house. The great thing with bytrade is that you have to do very little to generate traffic, something that takes time to learn when blogging or building a website. You can buy wholesale products to sell on, dropship and have the wholesaler deliver the products for you, make your own items to sell. There's many ways to make money on bytrade. bytrade is a great way to make money fast online.
Web 2.0: Web 2.0 sites are websites that let you post articles about pretty much anything and also let you add affiliate links or Google adsense to your articles to earn from. If you're interested more in having your own website one day, using a Web 2.0 site is a great way to cut your teeth and learn what it takes to build traffic and earn a living online. The great thing with these is they're free to use. The 2 big player's in Web 2.0 are Squidoo and Hubpages. Stick with them and over time you will learn a great deal and how all this online marketing really works.
Article Marketing: Still as powerful as ever, article marketing is a great way to build traffic and heaps of money. Also coined, Bum Marketing, is where you write an article on a specific topic and direct that traffic to your website or blog. The great thing with this method is that you build links to your site something that is a crucial part of having a website or blog. Many people have made thousands with just one web page which has hade well written, informative articles directing targeted traffic on their specific topic and then direct them to a page that is selling a product on the same topic. Never under estimate the power of article marketing. There are many sites that let you submit articles, such as this one Articlebase!
Website: Still the daddy of being able to make money online. Having a website gives you complete control over and no limitations as to what you put on it (advertising wise). Websites rank well in Google and having a keyword specific domain name massively helps with SEO. The thing is with websites they cost money to have. You need a domain name and hosting atleast to get your website on to the world wide web. There is a solution though, there are free website providers that give you the layout of a website and host it for free but they will be on subdomains. One of these such sites it Yolasite.com

Great basic tips for newbies, there are loads more ways like affiliate marketing, creating your own product, selling services, etc.

You just need to find something you enjoy and maximise it to your efforts to scale it up as big as you like.

Do other marketers feel that subdomains are less credible than .com and .org alternatives? I also thought that subdomains won't rank as highly as .com and .org domains. I have just finished my first website and am building it slowly but if subdomains can work for me, there's quite a few new ideas I would like to get going quite quickly.

    Thoughts, anyone?

There's a definite difference in performance with .com and .org domains but there are ways to get around the subdomain issue. You still need to buy domains but you can save money on hosting. When you purchase a domain name, the company will usually provide a facility call web forwarding. You can use your .com or .org domain to forward visitors to your published subdomain but the .com/.org domain name still appears in the address bar.

I can't promise that performance will be better but site visitors will give your website more credibility and the search engine bots might just pick something up.
