I've come to the same conclusion. My business account is a pointless animal that sends me nothing but links to crap I'm never going to have an interest in. My personal account is very worthwhile though as it allows me to stalk famous people.

Twitter can absolutely be the best source of news & information - if you follow the right people.

Sure, there's lots of noise on Twitter but there's also lots of great contributors.

I'd suggest you go to the search window in twitter and type in ' #ecommerce ' or ' #football ' or whatever your interest is.

You can then scroll through the results, click on those people who say stuff that interests you & click on the links they send. You'll soon work out who's saying stuff worth listening too.

Another good tip, is once you've found someone worth following, on the right side there's a 'Similar too...' box where Twitter recommends some that might also be worth looking at.

I find Twitter and Facebook to be great for social interaction. Facebook being superior to Twitter.

LinkedIn is great for networking.

I find LinkedIn the best, but this depends on your niche.
