Hi shane sorry to hear your probelms, i have heard horror stories about seo companies in australia, many are trading on the name / reputation and that they have been around along time, however they do very little for your site except link it to their high authority sites and do some on page tweaking, other hidf e behind the veil that you may not have given them access to the back end, all the while they have not told the business that they need to update the website to remove the flash or frames....

You need to be careful with guarantees and even more careful about the phrase they are using. It's easy to get a number 1 ranking in less than 1 day for an obscure phrase - My record for a new site is about 12 hours but this was on a low ranking phrase. Anything popular can be difficult and takes time, effort and in some cases luck.

I ran with Brendan for SEO and I am getting great results and the target audience I have always been after.

Maybe I am lucky or he actually knows what he is doing. However the monthly reporting is slack
I honestly thought the fees were high not knowing anything about SEO but the work we are getting more than covers the outlay so I am very pleased all round.

I agree with philipdenn - I've also been worked with SEO companies and both were a waste of time - results actually got worse with one company - they like to string it out - only to benefit themselves...

I've been having a lot of luck with SEO lately. My dictionary is really going up SERPs, and because people can actually FIND it now I am getting a lot of organic backlinks. My main site seems to be completely at the mercy of whatever algorithm tweak Google is inflicting on us this week.

In response to you (HWT) it's good to hear you've had some success with SEO. I think it's something that needs to be constantly worked on a tweaked. I just think if choosing to outsource SEO then you need to make sure they are accountable - my experience was very poor with little to no success as the months and $$ disappeared - I can do better myself

What you need to watch with SEO companies is that you don't just become a 'number', I only take on a small amount of SEO clients per year to make sure I can focus on their business, what their goals are and make sure I can dedicate enough time to making sure they get the right results.

Every single client I have is now listed on page one of google for multiple high traffic keywords and have easily make their investment in me back 5 times over.

There are lot of firms in Australia..Some firms guarantee you first page rank ...Dont trust them blindly because Google itself has said no company or professional can make you reach top on google..It all depends on google algorithm..But still doing seo is always better in order to get public attention and more business
