Exclamation Put your Business in Perspective

As an entrepreneur (I know that you understand) I work over 20 hours per day... crazy...

well my wife send me this email as a hint = remember the GOLF balls..
    Enjoy...

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "yes".

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions--things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else--the small stuff."

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house, and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a cup of coffee."

    Default Original Business Consultant

This reminds of the conversation between a large company and their new consultant hired to bring about change to get the business number 1 in america.

The client asked for a plan to put their company in the number 1 spot in the steel industry.

The consultant immediately wrote quickly on a piece of paper and handed it to the client. The client read the note and wasn't impressed with what was written.

The stated that he asked for a strategic plan to make the company number 1 and expected a lengthy researched report.

The consultant stated "try it and pay me what you think it is worth to you later"

Several months later the client contacted the consultant and gave him a check for $25,000 [Todays money that is over a million dollars] for 5 minutes consulting work on a bit of paper.

The client reached number 1 position in the steel industry within 12 months by following the advice written on the paper.

"Every manager is to make a list of six things to do today, then do them well. Repeat this every day."

Simple but effective use fo time management. Imagine if we just focused on getting our tasks done each day, how successful you would be.

For me, I took this advice on a different angle, by understanding that if most people only read 1 book a month [12 per year], i could boost my business knowledge by reading 1 book per week [therefore 52 per year] and possess four times the knowledge. In the last 5 years I have read 1 book per day [365 book per year].

Time is flexible and we all waste it in different amounts, just by reclaiming those wasted 2 hours every day you will acheive so much in your life and business.

    Try it and see.
    Warm Regards,

I've read the first one quite a few times before, still a good and inspiring read through.

Second one is new to me, equally as good.

    Thanks for sharing =)
