Default Looking for honest advice on web hosts

Has anyone done any business with Bluehost or Hostmonster? Trying to find an honest review is nigh on impossible. Google searches come up with some negatives but then you go to read them and they're just a front for a glowing review and recommendation. Both hosts belong to the same company, offer packages 99% the same. Great offers, some really good reviews but managed to find one or two really disturbing ones. The good ones are probably just ads.
If anyone knows of a reasonably cheap e-comm hosting service that is reliable and "honest as the day is long" I'd love to hear about them.

    Have Fun!
    Paul.

You will probably be able to find good and bad reviews for every host out there. Generally they start off with great service but as they grow it deteriorates.

I've been happy with my host but I've heard other people are leaving them at the moment so I'm not sure I can recommend them..

Yeah hosting is a tough game both for the host and the customer, i used to be in the business - those reviews as you say are most likely adverts.

I am currently with a few different hosts, so far i have been most impressed by my current host for Entrepreneur Investments, they are decently priced (not cheapest), good quality datacenter, give me PHP 5 which i needed and give me quick support when i have a query.

    Cortech Web Hosting

If you tell them Carl recommended you, i'm sure you might get a special deal.

I am also using Net Logistics
They are also good, altho i did have some trouble 4 months ago with emails that took a while for them to fix.

    Hey Paul,

I was in the same boat as you about 2 years back, was never able to find a great host for myself or my clients, so I bit that bullet and bought my own server and started my own company.

I now own a few servers and run a small boutique web hosting company, we don't advertise nor do we offer direct to public - which means we don't oversell our servers like most hosts. We usually just offer our service to premium clients, but as a member of this forum I would be happy to rent you some space on our servers.

You will get all the features that you would of any web host, if not more, as well as personalised service.. its what we pride ourselves on!

If you are interested, drop an email to hosting@exstatic.net

Best of luck in your search.

    Hey Paul,

I might be a bit late, but i will still add in my 2 cents

First of all you should look at what your gonna be hosting on it the most.. Are they going to be regular websites? Heavy Traffic sites? Video/Audio? Proxies?

Based on the kind of websites you are going to host you can better make a decision on what sort of hosting company to go with.

Personally.. my own websites (and those I host for businesses around Cairns) I host on a personal server in Australia (Net Logistics - Web Hosting, Reseller Hosting, Virtual Private Servers (VPS), Dedicated Servers) Mind you these guys are expensive as they are an Australian host.

For my Spam/Turnkey venture I host with cheap US/UK located companies, as if one goes offline im not losing out on TOO much.. nor is it a "legit" source of income for me.

    Hope it helps

Well we can't say that web hosting is the only way to promote business online, but whether you need help managing your CRM application or need to deploy additional servers to keep up with demand, SEO Web Hosting allows your company to quickly scale its infrastructure without the delays traditionally associated with procuring and installing additional equipment. I am using SEO Hosting website so try it I am sure you will like it.

The reason you come across such good reviews for shit web hosts is merely the fact they're probably using an affiliate link to advertise the service. I personally use www.mediatemple.net for all of my hosting, though I've had a good experience with www.godaddy.com before.
