Twitter trends map

I am not sure if any of you have seen this before, but its pretty cool.

It basically matches what is trending on twitter right now, where its trending and then overlays it onto a map.. very cool.

Its great that these sort of technologies are available.. and an awesome way to see what people are twittering about around the world right now.

What do you think a tool like this means for business.. and think we can leverage off it for things like market research and product development? Or even marketing?

I have been following the twitter trends for a while and in particular the twitter local trends.

What I was able to do was find out what people were tweeting about within my market and then create some articles based on that to drive traffic to my website.

Obviously the time frame you get to do it in is pretty small, trends dont necessarily last for long and your stuff needs to be relevant to that trend so you dont just look like a spammer.

It worked pretty well and I even made a sale, so i recommend keeping an eye on the trends and if anything pops up that is within your industry, that you know about.. you should contribute.
