Hello everyone. I am a Chartered Accountant that has recently started up a home based bookkeeping and accounting service as I am the mother of two young children and need more flexibility in my weekly schedule. I feel that even though the market is saturated with bookkeeping services there are not many professionals out there who do it with qualifications and have seen both sides (I've worked in Chartered and commercial roles for fifteen years). When I worked in the city I was charging out at over $250 per hour so I'm hoping that clients will see great value in using my own business at $50 per hour.

I've also subscribed to a Citrix tool that allows me to remotely connect with your desktop so I can easily trouble shoot small questions without having to charge an arm and a leg!

I'd appreciate any advice on how to generate clients and if you are looking for a new bookkeeper that can talk to you intelligently about your business please visit www.traceynewman.com.au (http://www.traceynewman.com.au) to set up a free consultation.

Thanks to you all, and best wishes for success in your businesses.

G'day Tracey and welcome to the forum. I must say that your pedigree is awesome and the fact you're engaging in penetration pricing in the early hours of your new home based bookkeeping & accounting business is great - I hope you gain some market share. From just looking at your introduction, is it safe to assume you're expecting majority of your clients to find your business via the Internet?

If so, it looks as if your website is letting your business down. You have such a great service to offer consumers, yet it seems as though you've forgotten entirely about your website. Good luck :)

Hi Tracey and congrats on taking the next step and starting a home business. I think you offer some great services and word of mouth should get you a lot of business.

I guess my question for you is how do you plan on marketing your business? I think a great marketing plan will help you go a long way.
