Hi everyone. I've just started my website after working on my designs and business for about a year.
I have a lingerie label called Lady Smooch and I have a big vision for where I want it to go, but honestly, I am struggling a bit with the organization and business side of things.
My website so far has my range of lingerie inspired aprons and accessories, and I am working on the lingerie range to be launched this year.
This place looks like a great resource. I'll be looking forward to chatting with you all and I'm sure I'll be asking for lots of advice!
:D

Hey Hayley,

Welcome to AT, great to have you on board.. so do you only sell online, or do you have a storefront as well?

Hi Brendan, thanks for the welcome. I've only just started, so it's just online for now. My range isn't big enough to consider anything else yet, and I need to find a manufacturer.
I'll be trying a few Sydney markets, but I'm not sure how successful that will be. I've tried Glebe markets twice, and it hasn't worked out. Party Plan is another avenue i'd like to try, once I have a bigger range.
I would definitely like to have a shop one day, but it won't be for a while yet. I want to start slow and see what sells.
Once I find a manufacturer, I will sell to lingerie boutiques and maybe some Adult stores.

How would it work at the markets..? Is there a place where the girls can try the garments on? If not.. maybe thats the reason it isnt working?

Those party plans could be a great idea, AMWAY had a great model when it first started, you find someone to host the party, they get a discount on everything they purchase from you in return for bringing some friends along.. maybe make it a sliding scale on more friends, greater discount.

The key then is to take all the friends details and visit them personally after the party to do a private sales consultation.

As I only have my aprons and some accessories at the moment, I haven't needed a dressing room at the markets yet. Once I have the lingerie, I will make sure I have a nice sturdy dressing room.
I think that the market venues have just not been right yet. It's a new concept "a sexy apron" and I think the type of thing that people don't really get straight away. They need a minute to get their head around why they might want a sexy apron. It's probably not something they've thought of before, so maybe when they are moving through the market, they over look it.
I hope that the markets will be a good way to promote the online shop, maybe people will take a card and have a look later.
