Hey All..

I am very happily engaged, and have never really delved into dating websites, but have started to work with someone on a project that is within this niche..

This project is a little confidential at the moment so I can't delude too much, but I would like to hear peoples opinions and suggestions on what makes a great dating site.. and if you do use them, what do you like about them, and what do you think they could do to improve?

Also.. how much would you pay, and what would you pay for..

Thanks guys, your help is very much appreciated!

No idea about the market but iminlikewithyou.com looked like a cool dating site but nobody went there for dating so they are turning it into a gaming site - Blockles is ADDICTIVE!

I think there might be a market for niche dating sites, but it would be hard to fight the big boys unless you are extremely niche.

There are lots of dating sites with very big budgets behind them so you would really need to stand out to get noticed.

Never used them lol. But I have seen ads for them all the time. Here is the thing that all dating sites lack. The guys don't know how to get the women. If you can start a dating site that offers free service but you have to pay for online tips and such for dating you are clear sailing. And please don't make it like eHarmony ;)

Never used them but Wiiman mentioned a good point. I'm tired of hearing guys complain about not getting any results. So coming up with a site that does offer such services would be awesome.

As for me I like to stick to the traditional way of dating. After all I spend too much time online and I can't afford for my gf to be part of the statisitcs :D

just tell them all to read The Game by Neil Strauss then they wont have any problems anymore.

What wiiman says is a valid point.

If you make the whole thing FREE to use, (not FREE to join and then pay per message you send) and offer some other added value that you charge for.

so make it free to browse profiles and make contact
but charge for things like a match making system that sends regular emails based on interests and such.

Think outside the square.. my opinion is if you replicate existing sites - doesn't matter what your niche market is i think it will struggle

Innovate the system and then you may find you can educate dating site users over to using your sytem.

Definitely sell copies of "The Game" or at least in an E-Book!

Thanks guys.. this project has been put on hold unfortunately as the funding has fell through - damn credit crunch..

Hopefully we can re-visit it in a few years after some other projects start to finish up.

Brandon

I have been in the dating business since 1980. I have owned and managed introduction agencies and the biggest introduction agency in Melbourne and I also developed singles software and run singles affiliate businesses. Not too many people in the world know as much as I do about the online or offline singles business.

Brandon I rate the best singles sites in the world at 35% This is how much they could be improved. Depends if you want results or money.

Brandon you can get a singles affiliate business for zero cost and make money to get your project started.

Brandon I am happily Married.

Heya Rexie,

What kind of online advertising do you partake in?

Is it all affiliate marketing or do you pay for search or display adverts online anywhere? how do you drive traffic to your site?

Also, once they are there, how do you keep them there or measure your acquisitions or conversions?

Cheers

JD

JD Depends On What I am Promoting at the time but I don't worry about search engines or google ads or any paid ads. Sometimes buy traffic at traffic exchanges or communities like if it real cheap 150,000 visitors for $10.00 etc.

I get 90% of my millions of site visitors from traffic exchanges and forums and communities, I rarely pay. I create my own web pages and sites and doorway pages.

I am overdue to update the above page but have been very busy making sales and money so way behind. I have thousands of pages and links online.
