Being in a high waste industry, we had to make the decision to go green.

There is a local community / council project called symmetry based in the macarthur area in sydney which is a great networking tool and helps you consider your waste output right through to buying from other businesses that are reducing their waste as well.

For every 1sqm of laminated digital print, there is 3sqm of waste - we approx. print 150-200 sqm per month, and have a waste output of 4cub. metres each month. Unfortunately the waste is not recyclable and cannot be used for anything else as it is a silicone based product.

I am after some innovative ideas to dispose of this product and hopefully can come up with some by joining this program.

Once completed, I am happy to post information here or to email addresses if others are interested.

Hey Justin, Good to hear your being concious of your waste, is there any way that you can re-use the material, can it be re-printed on, bleached, cleaned? can it be used for any other use at all? Can it be painted a single colour and re-sold for a different purpose?

Hi Justin, have you thought of selling the off cuts to art schools or the like? They are always looking for obscure materials and shapes etc..?

We already give our offcut vinyls to preschools and kindergartens for the kids.

The problem with this liner paper is it has a silicone coating which prevents it from being recyclable, and nothing will stick to it.

Maybe a school or the like could use it to draw on the other side so I am looking into this as well.

Thanks for the ideas !
