TS: Thank-you Yaro for agreeing to be interviewed, could you please start by letting us know exactly who you are and what you do.

TS: Tell me about your entrepreneurial background, did you start young or later? What, if anything, in your upbringing led you to entrepreneurship?
YS: I started running businesses while in university, although I didn’t really consider them businesses, I was just managing websites that made me money while I completed my studies. Straight after university I continued to build businesses, mostly online, but a few in the “real world” too.
I never liked the idea of having a full time job because I always valued freedom in my life. I hated that I had to go somewhere at certain times in my life regardless of whether I felt like it or not - for example going to school and attending university lectures. Because of this I looked for ways to make money on my own so I didn’t have to move into a job that forced me to go somewhere everyday that I didn’t want to go.
TS: Who have been your role models, mentors, or other inspiration for you, both in your personal life and public figures?
YS: I follow a lot of the Internet marketing leaders to replicate what they do. Guys like Richard Schefren and Mike Filsaime.
I read Richard Branson’s book and admire his achievements, but really in terms of role models I prefer to model character traits and methods as opposed to people, since most successful people have certain traits and use methods that lead to success.
TS: What specifically led you to start your current business(es)?
YS: I started blogging initially because someone told me they were good for building traffic to websites. I added one to the website for the editing and proofreading business I was running at the time, tried to write blog articles but struggled to come up with topics related to my business that I wanted to write about.
I switched the focus of my blog to be about topics I enjoy - Internet business and blogging, and then ran with it. That was nearly three years ago now.
As a result of my consistency I manage to grow my blog and start generating reliable income of about $5000 a month. Earlier in 2007 I decided to open up a training program to teach others how to become professional bloggers and make a good living from writing a blog about two hours a day, and BlogMastermind.com was born.
TS: What motivates you every day when you go to work?
YS: I work at home and my main motivations are firstly to interact and help other people create a lifestyle like mine, to improve my own financial situation and just for the job of expressing myself in writing. I do enjoy writing and it’s even better when you are read, which in my case, I have 5000 daily readers.
TS: What has been some of the hardest hurdles to overcome in your success?
YS: he hardest part is not comparing yourself to others and always chasing more. You need to slow down and enjoy the process or you are always working hard towards tomorrow’s goals. You can never be happy if you always want more and you need to remind yourself of this on a regular basis.
TS: How important do you consider networking and building contacts to be for an entrepreneur’s success?
YS: It’s quite important, especially if you want to move beyond the six figure level of income. You can work quite hard, in particular online, and do quite well independently, but if you really want to grow you need points of leverage and most of them come from knowing people.
TS: If you could pin it down to just one thing, what is the one most important thing you have learned about business?
YS: Consistency and persistence. Whatever you choose to do, you have to do it long enough and often enough to get results. If you don’t you will never enjoy significant rewards.
TS: What books and resources would you recommend for young entrepreneurs?
YS: I don’t recommend any books - I recommend taking action and following the example of others. Books are great, but you rarely take action as a result of reading a book. It’s better to go find what you want to do, have a go and do it, make tones of mistakes, and evolve your processes until things work.
TS: Any final advice for young entrepreneurs or businessmen just getting started?
YS: Just get out there and do something rather than talk about or read about it or think about it. Nothing really matters besides the doing part if you really want success.
