1 Learn SEO
To do effective internet marketing you first need to be willing to study. There is no way anyone can come online and expect to be successful without training. The first thing you must learn is search engine optimization, also known as SEO. Without learning basic SEO you cannot be successful online, unless you outsource it.
While you can outsource SEO it's in your best interest to know the basics. To do this you can join the 30 Day Challenge and also google SEO and learn from various websites (http://www.bytrade.com). The training is free, but you will need to put forth effort and time.

2 Domain & Niche
Once you have basic SEO down you can move on to choosing a niche and a domain name. These two seemingly small decisions can make or break your first attempt at making money online. Make no mistake about it your niche and domain name are key factors in effective internet marketing. Take the time to research and choose wisely.
It requires focus and extensive research to find money making niches and choose the best domain name for your site. There are big money making niches that are obvious like insurance or credit cards, but look at the competition. It's better to find something not so competitive, but is still in demand.

3 Article marketing
Next for for you to do effective internet marketing (http://www.bytrade.com), and start free, you need to be able to write fairly well. Writing articles and material for the website is a must. The best article directory to begin with is Ezine Articles; all you need do is google them and read a few articles.
This will give you ideas on how to promote your product and site. Find the most popular articles in your niche and learn from them. DO NOT copy their work, just get ideas, study and take notes. These are the people who are doing what you want to do and know what you want to know you can learn from them.

4 Website
It's time for the website. To start free you can use Weebly.com or Blogger if you prefer a blog. Both of these platforms are easy to use, however, if you need help go to youtube for step by step video instruction. You can also use Wordpress.com it's free, but they do not allow affiliate links they will shut down your site! Then you have wasted valuable time.
Wordpress.org is good, but you have to buy a domain name and pay for web hosting. It isn't much; $20 will pay for both. However, it may work better to try free platforms first to test your niche and transport your work later.

5 Video marketing
There are many tools you can use to do effective internet marketing. I have covered bare basics to get you going. Some other factors would include building a list, website promotion, video marketing and auto responders to name a few.
There will always be new and better tools that cost money. While you may start free it can't stay this way if you want optimal results. Check resources below for more tips on affiliate commissions, article marketing and niche blogging.

I'm a massive advocate of video marketing. It's arguably one of the easiest ways to get to the top of the search engines since Google acquired YouTube and the wealth of VA's that offer affordable and high quality productions make this a no-brainer. I've even had videos made on Fiverr that have been finished to perfection. I'd never outsource my articles to Fiverr but because I provide a really good breakdown of what I'd like my videos to contain (and the text within it), I usually get great results from there.

You should do linkbuilding by more focussing on offpage optimization
There are several ways like
1, directory submission
2, article submission
3, press releases
4, social media management

To add, identify your niche first before thinking of a product or service to offer. Do a research and find the hungry market then based on the results choose a product or service to offer. In this way, you are sure that you can provide a solution to your target market.

I run these concepts parallel to each other after getting my fingers burned in the past. I used to identify some really good sub niches and spend ages on developing the ideas, only to find that there were no affiliate products available. Obviously, you can create your own but not everybody has the time (or the money to outsource).

These days, I immediately look for related affiliate products that support my niches and I always try to identify at least three different products that are trending well and have good gravity with a low refund rate. I do create products occassionally but because my site management commitments are so time-consuming, I really prefer to ride the back of affiliate products most of the time. If I find a good niche with a product that I know I can sell, I always contact the product creator and ask for 100% commissions. It's surprising how often they agree as long as you have something to give back. I usually offer future JV's using my own lists when they come up with new products and this makes me even more money.

I personally think from experience On-Site SEO is much more important than Off-Site for a number of reasons. Google ranks websites that are internally optimised for content and linkage much higher than others, as well as search engine spiders finds it easy to grasp you content and display correctly.

Good point... However, it is also important to establish your domain authority and Page Rank. These would not be possible without good quality and relevant backlinks. Besides, Off Site SEO also generate target traffic to web sites provided that the strategies within the campaign are held properly.

Effective network marketing to bring the value of efficient distribution and content combination. To bring in a specific market value, you must become an expert in this field. Whatever you can think of what area is always someone else to pursue this market.

One of the key objectives for any marketer should be list-building. Knowing how to do that fast and at the same time creating a responsive list takes some learning for most people. My progress was very slow until I paid a mentor to help me. Everyone's trying to sell you a short cut, but a good mentor is probably the best - or maybe the only real - short cut you'll find.

As I posted in the other post, two things that have worked for my wife's business (small restaurant), where I help her with marketing:

* A combination of blogging, Twitter and Facebook - We blog one article every fortnight about food or local events. I post it on our Twitter account and also on our Facebook business page. I also search and follow a lot of people on Twitter who have a shared interest in food, wine and travel. This helps us gain some visibility.

* Although we hired someone to design it, I manage the restaurant website now. I found on Google Analytics that a lot of people were visiting our website from their mobiles (iPhone etc.) so we created a mobile website for the restaurant using roveb.com and so far we've had some good response.

Hope it helps.

It's worth taking the time to build a 3 blog network for traffic. Using separate domains and hosting, you can get a lot of free traffic this way.

You can also use free WordPress sites and Google Blogger sites. You can also use Google Wonder Wheel to expand the topic areas around your niche...
