Is article marketing really dead and buried, or can webmasters still drive traffic to their website through the power of the written word? My experiences show me that if anything, the power of article marketing is stronger than ever so why do so many IM 'experts' say there's no mileage in it anymore?
Over the years, many website owners have seen algorithm changes wipe out their online businesses overnight. Not me. I've always believed that quality articles stand the test of time and I've had to make very few changes to any of my websites because of Panda, sandboxing or any of the other changes that Google have implemented.
Articles that are flooded with keywords but contain little informational content CAN and WILL destroy your business aspirations. Here's some guidance to not only obtain great articles, but to ensure they're fully optimised:
Only outsource articles to high quality writers.
Increase article lengths to 750 words and above wherever possible.
Format your keyword so it is typed in bold face, italic face and is underlined once each throughout the article.
Include headings throughout in H1, H3 and H3 sizes
Include keywords in the first and last sentence of each article.
Use the keyword as an ALT tag on an image within your article.
Include internal links in your articles, and link out relevant words and phrases to PR5 websites and above. Wikipedia is a great source for doing this.
Keep keyword density at around 3.5% and never any higher than 4%.
Have articles rewritten by cheaper writers for article directory purposes and submit regularly.
Never swamp your site with articles. Add them on a weekly basis to keep Google happy.
