Hey Everyone,

We have been busily upgrading the forums over the past few days to give us a better platform to network on, share knowledge and generally communicate more effectively.

This upgrade has brought a whole heap of new features that I am sure you will all find useful, here is a quick list of what we have implemented so far;

Improved Public User Profiles
You may have noticed that the way your profile and others looks has changed dramatically, we have started to head more towards a social networking type community where you can interact with other users a lot easier, share information, photo albums, add friends, join groups, interest outside of the typical thread/post scenario that you are used to.

As an example, Brendan has added some extended information to his profile, such as photos, friends and some more information about himself, have a look here - Entrepreneur Forum for Australian Small Business - View Profile: Brendan (http://www.aussietycoon.com/member.php?u=3)

I hope you will all find this very useful way of networking with other entrepreneurs.

Credits & Advertising
This is almost finished and should be launched next week, basically you may have noticed over the past few months that you have had Ad Credits in your profile. Well the idea behind this is that you can earn ad credits from participating in the forums, these ad credits can then be transferred for advertising space on the forum, so in effect you can advertise your services here for FREE! - Stay tuned on this, as we will be post a separate thread about it.

Improved Social Bookmarking
You may have noticed under every thread there is now and option to submit that thread to a social bookmarking site. As you probably know that social bookmarking sites such as Digg, StumbleUpon etc are great ways of sharing data with the outside world, so if you write a fantastic post here on AT, then be sure to bookmark it using those links!

Tag Cloud, and Searching
Every time you make a new thread, you will be given the option of adding tags to the thread (see tags below). What these allow yourself and users to do is, when searching for some information on a certain subject you can see if its a topic within the cloud and it will bring up all posts with those tags assigned to it.

There has also been a lot of behind the scenes upgrades, but rather than bore you all with the ins and outs, here is a quick list of what other features the upgrade has brought;

Inline spam management & prevention
Thread prefixes
Reciprocal friendships between users
Public visitor messaging on profile pages with 'conversation' feature
User-created social groups with invite only and moderated membership options
Inline editing of custom user profile fields
Lightbox viewer for attached images
Viewable and comparable history maintained for post edits
Notices system for navigation bar
Multiple human-verification systems including reCAPTCHA, image verification and Q/A
User change history

We hope that you find the changes useful, and that they make your experience here at AT more enjoyable!

If you have any questions, please post here!

Regards,

AussieTycoon Team.

I like the idea of being able to advertise on the website by actively participating in the discussions - great idea.

Hey,

I tried bmp, gif, jpg, png. I cut them all down to within the pixel sizing, and they were only about 2k then as file size...
