Just sharing the good news, we're a Melbourne based book retailer with an online store that went up about two months ago, and today we made our first international sale.
Shipped a book titled "Aussie Night Before Christmas" of to South Carolina US this morning!

Does anyone here have experience with international shipping?
Although it's good news about the sale we weren't really prepared to ship books overseas. We ended up paying $16 postage when we only charged the customer $11.

Not a huge loss but it would be nice to sell more to overseas customers and to get the postage correct.

Hello Paul
Congratulations on your first international order.......you might consider recharging handling and postage back to the customer or at least try to get your shipping cost down to a affordable level.
Or only sell ebooks internationally.

Takes a bit of time to set up but if you weigh each book then charge by total weight, this is an accurate way to go.
You can also set a minimum order quantity whereby shipping is a flat rate if the Customer spends a certain amount. Tempt them to buy more.
