Seems likes everyone these days are running a blog. I need an original idea for one. Something that will gain readers and also revenue.

Usually the best thing to do when writing a blog is to write about something you are passionate about, there is no point just writing a blog for the sake of it!

If you write about something you know alot about, then you will most likely have unique content which will bring in readers.

What are some things you enjoy?

Yep. I find that out myself a lot. I have thought about so many ideas for blogs but never tried them because I knew I did not know enough about them and two its just something I was too hot about in the first place. It might be good to check out some blogs and get ideas from them. After all that is what blogs are for.

Yea, what are you favorite blogs then?

Some of my favorite blogs are those that take regular stories and put a funny twist to it. It puts back the fun in reading. I find out that most blogs these days have lost that air of humor that blogs have been famous for.

I know of one such blog. Its one that I help run. tymez (http://www.tymez.com). BTW some of the best ideas generally come when you're not thinking so its always good to keep an eye open for something unusual.

then why not find a topic you are interested in and start a blog with a funny twist on it. This would be your best option.

I would suggest that also. Another thing you could do is put togather an online blog with more than one writer. Currently I have two writers on my blog but I am working on another project (cant exactly say what it is) that would have at least 5 to 10 writers. That way all these writers can attract readers to your blog and if one decides to leave to start their own you would still maintain a lot of traffic from the other writers who are still there.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am generally reading a bunch of peculiar news. So I am going to work on this. Thanks again.

Very good idea you have there wiiman. Reminds me of this site that makes the best myspace layouts I have seen. Their URL is LoveMyFlash / Flash Layouts (http://www.lovemyflash.com)

The good thing about internet businesses is that they are more forgiving than real world ventures.

I wouldnt say they are more 'forgiving' I guess they are more flexible.

With internet businesses the reason they appeal to people is that you can create something from nothing with small start up costs, and usually people enjoy this part of it.

It's also appealing because for the small startup costs you can effectively promote globally and appear to be a huge company on a shoestring budget, probably not something you can do easily in a bricks and mortar business.

Blogs are a great start to making money online as they help teach all the key skills needed for a successful site, content generation, user retention, marketing and advertsing, affilliates, networking, seo etc..

You just need to find something you enjoy and are passionate about.. I did find this article a while back that sums up blogging really well..

Reporter vs Expert - Why Most Bloggers Are Stuck Reporting Internet Business Blog - by Yaro Starak (http://www.entrepreneurs-journey.com/836/most-bloggers-are-reporters/)

Highly recommended reading!

Just pick a topic and get started, surely you like something - just don't make sure you are too general. I like the idea of starting a blog with a few other people - it seems like a smart move. I'm just starting to trial something like that with some people for a poker blog. We'll see how it goes I guess

Yes it makes it a lot better. I am currently trying to take my blog mainstream and I need a couple more writers (anyone interested..lol). But the main thing is to stand out. Too many blogs just focus on celebrity gossip and SEO. Try something that steps out of the mold that has been created.

I would suggest getting a different name. That one is too close to TMZ or Time and it might get people confused. Find something a little more unique.

Blog profitability is a tough little puppy. But i recommend a really good guide by Yaro Starek called the "Blog Profits Blueprint"

Its going to be hard to find something 100% original as most of the ideas you will think of will already aspects that are in use. Your best bet is to try and reinvent something.

For instance my political site Norton Release (http://nortonrelease.com) is a political website (along with other news and such). But I put a new twist. Instead of talking about dead boring politics I have interjected a lot of humor into it. And instead of the long boring posts about politics I make them short and sweet. And if someone wants to read more on the subject they can go to a site I refer to them.
