View Full Version : Slowly going up
Well, I was a bit bored, and it is close enough to the end of the month to look at my webstats. I still just run them combined across all the sites, mainly because I haven't bothered to download the logs and run tools on them locally, I use the ones my webhost provides.
Anyway, this month is the first month we cracked 1 million pages served
Love the way you can choose your figures though. We've been hovering at just under 5M hits a month for a few months, but that includes everything ... style sheets, images, scripts, the works. But to put it in perspective, a year ago over all the sites we were sitting on about 250,000 pages served per month.
I'm happy anyway :)

Nice work HWT.. which site is that for, the one in your sig?
Hah no, the one in my sig probably gets 100 hits a YEAR.
Most of the hits are Giraffian | kid's stuff (http://giraffian.com) , Home (http://simplesustainable.com) (simplesustainable.com - hmmm, doesn't have a good title) and Online Photographic Dictionary | Online Photographic Dictionary and Encyclopedia (http://photographicdictionary.com) . We have a couple others too but they don't have much traffic.
Vast majority of the hits and adsense income is giraffian.
The big 1 mill page views - well done - a good hurdle to cross
Makes me wary of the next project though. The entire point of it is to serve content to other websites, and if it has say 1000 small subscriber websites all with 1000-10,000 views a day, that's a LOT of content to serve ... way over a million per DAY not month ... very different to a 'traditional' site.
We'll see how that goes. I just had to take 2 weeks off with a cold and too much snot in my brain to work, and now I'm 36 weeks pregnant so this isn't going to get finished in the next month :)
And of course as soon as I get a run of particularly good traffic, Google suddenly decides my most popular keywords aren't worth sending people to my website for *sigh*. They've gone from being my top 20 referrer keywords to ... not there at all. After a solid year or two of them being my top keywords too!
Argh! Why does Google do that!
Aaargh - don't you just hate that - all that hard work - I guess they like to keep us on our toes
I went through and changed something minor on all the offending pages, that usually does the trick to get Google back, but it is a pain in the bum!
