How many of you with websites are reguarly tracking where your visitors came from? and how many signed up or purchased or made some kind of interaction?

What kind of systems do you use?

i am currently using Google Analytics and i find it very good, considering it doesn't take up any of my database storage space or servers computing power to track or store.

Yes, I certainly track all my visitors, as well as track how well my site is ranked in search engines and where it comes from and keywords that are sending people to my sites.

Just a few days back after we posted the Real Estate Forecast 2008 article, we saw a huge spike in the amount of visitors to the site, so I checked the logs and noticed that we were ranking reasonably high for keywords like;
- australia property forecast 2008 - in fact we are no.1 in google for this for a few days!
- adelaide housing market forecasts
- property market melbourne 2008

So, it seems real estate is a popular subject, it didn't bring much contribution to the forum however, nor new members.. but it is a starting block and should be able to help us mold the way we integrate different range of entrepreneurial articles into the site, and shows how we should be able to use statistics to drive more and more visitors to our sites.

I use a number of different systems for tracking my traffic, they are
- AWstats - provided by my servers
- Google Webmaster tools
- Google Analytics

Also, another member of the forums Ross introduced me to Crazy Egg visualize your visitors (http://www.crazyegg.com) for tracking clicks on your page via a visual representation, this is really cool stuff! You basically set up your page, and crazyegg tracks where people click on the page and shows it to you on an overlay heatmap.. its very very nice, I recommend you all go and check it out, especially for those who are trailing ad placement on their sites.
