Google Buzz... whats it all about?

So I have seen posted all over twitter and blogs today Google Buzz, but I can't get my head around it.. can someone give me the heads up?

I just saw it this morning through my gmail account. I hadn't heard of it before. It looks like it pulls in feeds from Twitter, Flickr, Picassa etc. into a single dashboard.

You can set a status update and follow people as well, so it's kind of like Twitter in that regard.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, I'm still trying to get my head around it.
